Janet Frankel Staub (z'l'), founder of Kol HaNeshama, was born in 1951 in Queens, New York. Janet graduated from
Bayside High School, Cornell University, University of Buffalo, and the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. A
licensed clinical social worker, Janet practiced psychotherapy for 35 years,
including 14 years at Pinnacle Health and 7 years in private practice. With
utmost passion for her craft, she continued to care for patients even in the
final months of her life.
Devoted to lifelong professional
growth, Janet studied at the International Psychotherapy Institute in
Washington, DC, relishing the professional community she found there. Janet
took great pride in her work and practiced with compassion and
dedication.
Janet was an engaged and proud
member of Harrisburg's Jewish community. Over the course of her life, she was a
member of three congregations: Beth El Temple, Chisuk
Emuna, and Temple Beth Shalom. Janet advised
Harrisburg's chapter of United Synagogue Youth and served on the board of the
Silver Academy. Janet was also an avid dancer and regularly participated in
both folk and contra dancing groups in the Harrisburg area.
Janet was an adored mother,
grandmother, sister, friend, neighbor, and community member. All those who loved her remember Janet's
unique and infectious zest for life.
